Keeping the tradition alive...
The Great ASIK ÇAGLARi
The new CD of Asik Çaglari memorates
the 40th year of migratian of Turkish Workers to the Netherlands.
Even if you dont understand á single word of the lyrics,
this music tells you more than 1000 words can do.
It
is the sound of music that has come down from generation to generation.
In 1980 the then 15 year old Çaglarî left the village
of Morcali near Karaman where he was born as Muammer Çalar.
Destination: Amsterdam in Holland. But the Turkish folk songs never
left his mind. Turkish folk songs are lyrical and depict events
in life including love, happiness, migration, sorrow and sadness.
As Muammer played his Saz words expressed his life in the Netherlands
and his memories of that little village in the Karaman area.
On Hosgörü 2 the Voice of Karaman is accompanied on the
lute and saz by Lütfi Pesket, co-writer of 5 of the songs on
Hosgörü 2. Together with Karamanli Çaglari Pesket
he is leading the fine group well fit for the arrangements made
by Hilal Mati. Arrangements according popularity for centuries in
his region.
The musical Instruments used on this album follow that line: plectrum
played stringed instruments like Baglama (Saz), the lute, the Divan
Saz, Tar and Cura. From the dilli uflemeli group of wind instruments
the kaval is used, together with the Mey and serene sounding percussion.
Sure Fahrettin Günes from Günses Studyo produced one of
the best albums ever in this field.
